St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital’s Bariatric Program Honored

Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital has demonstrated its ability to meet the needs of bariatric surgery patients by providing multidisciplinary, high-quality and patient-centered care. Since opening in January 2005, more than 1,200 patients have received weight loss surgery through the bariatric program.

By helping patients lose weight, the bariatric program has also been able to address other health concerns such as high blood pressure

Patients should be aware that:-
•They must be motivated and have a reasonable view of the surgical outcome.
The surgery is a tool to help you lose weight and become healthy
•Understand the risks, side effects and complications of gastric bypass surgery.
*Female patients should not become pregnant for 18 months after gastric by-pass surgery. This could cause injury to the unborn child.
