About Stanley Hahn, M.D.
Hahn is a board certified general and bariatric surgeon and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He has been performing weight loss surgery since 1992. Hahn trained at the University of Iowa. He was trained by the “grandfather” of bariatric surgery, Dr. Ed Mason. In 1966, Dr. Mason developed the gastric bypass
operation which is the most common weight loss surgery and considered the gold standard for weight loss operations in the United States. He also developed the gastroplasty operation in 1980 which was the precursor operation for the laparoscopic gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy.
