Honey Boo Boo weight loss:
Honey Boo Boo has been making weight loss progress after losing 8 pounds this month. Mama June Shannon said Honey Boo Boo’s weight has dropped from 125.5 pounds to 118 pounds, thanks to a portion-controlled diet and workouts with trainer Natasha Fett (pictured above with Dr. Oz). Mama June posted a photo of Honey Boo Boo on Instagram May 20, where Alana is seen stepping on a scale that reads “119.4.” Mama June, who plans to get weight loss surgery soon, said she has lost 45 pounds, while her other daughter, Lauryn “Pumpkin” Shannon, has lost 26 pounds. Mama June made the announcement after being slammed on the May 20 episode of “The Doctors,” where the show’s hosts blamed her for Honey Boo Boo’s obesity. Mama June, who was accused of not caring about Honey Boo Boo’s welfare, said she had filmed “The Doctors” last month, and her family has since made tremendous progress. “They wanted her to fail from the beginning,” wrote Shannon, who was criticized by “The Doctors” for not supporting Honey Boo Boo’s diet and exercise regimen. Mama June said Honey Boo has made great progress with the help of the family’s fitness trainer, Natasha Fett. “[Natasha is] someone who genuinely cares about us getting healthier,” said June. “I’m proud of the changes Alana, Pumpkin and myself have made and continue to make.” Honey Boo Boo, whose real name is Alana Thompson, was placed on a medically supervised diet after “The Doctors” host Dr. Travis Stork confronted Mama June about Honey Boo Boo’s obesity and poor eating habits several months ago. The 4-foot-9 Honey Boo Boo, who weighs 125 pounds, is 55 to 65 pounds overweight, said Dr. Stork. She should weigh between 60 and 70 pounds, explained Stork, a former ER doctor. To help with her weight loss efforts, “The Doctors” hired a dietitian to devise a meal plan for Honey Boo Boo, and also gave her a bike so she could exercise daily.
