Government pledges $8m for bariatric surgery in bid to tackle obesity

Bariatric surgery, such as lap-band surgery, is often the last chance for some patients and our funding will give more people each year the opportunity to make a real and lasting change to their health and lifestyle.
The $8 million is a ”special investment” in three hospitals, on top of the general funding they already receive from government, and Mr Davis said it was recognition of the need for additional assistance in the field.
