Not everyone is good at losing weight. Some of us often need to try harder than others. A lot of factors influence the weight loss process, including age, gender, metabolism rate, diet, and physical activity level. In this post, we have 10 essential weight loss tips that will work, as long as you follow a good diet plan and exercise regime. 1. Do not stress. That’s one of the fundamental rules for losing weight. People often believe that spending hours in the gym is enough for losing pounds, which sadly isn’t true. You have to avoid over thinking about the entire process. 2. Sleep enough. An adult person needs at least seven hours of sound sleep each day, and this doesn’t mean taking small naps. You have to sleep enough so that your body can take the toll of exercises. 3. Don’t skip your breakfast. Your breakfast should be the first and most heavy meal of the day because your metabolism rate is at its best. Make sure that you eat the right things, which can include oats, eggs, and fruits. 4. Add some nuts and seeds. Craving for smaller meals and snacks is absolutely normal, but instead of eating cookies and junk food, you can switch to nuts and needs. A spoon of flax or chia seeds is ideal for every meal too. 5. Hydration is essential. You don’t need magic weight loss drinks. Just drink enough water each day, and if possible, opt for vitamin enhanced water. Also known as alkaline water, it can help in regulating the metabolism rate. 6. Ditch sugar. If you cut down sugar intake for a month, you will see some significant changes in your body. Avoid all sorts of food that have any form of refined sugar. Fruits also have sugar and should be taken in moderation. 7. Don’t miss your carbohydrates. People often believe that carbs should be ignored completely, which isn’t the ideal thing to do. Ideally, it is best to choose some of the complex carbohydrates, which require more time for digestion. Examples include oats and brown rice. 8. Do more of strength training. If you are extremely focused on losing weight from certain parts of the body, weight training and HIIT workouts are your best choices. Cardio is important, but it shouldn’t be the prime concern all the time. 9. Opt for tea, not coffee. A cup of coffee per day won’t hurt you for sure, but it is always best to go for teas. Herbal teas, including jasmine, chamomile, green tea, are great for the body and should do wonders to keep you away from aerated drinks and sodas. 10. Focus on long-term results. Weight loss weight loss procedures is a process, which takes time. Fad diets and exercise regimes may help in losing a few initial pounds, but the results often don’t last. You need to focus on eating right, and there is no reason to skip exercise. Try to lose weight sustainably. Lastly, make sure that you are not losing your mind to dieting. As long as you have balanced meals, you should do fine Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/9767439

Weight-Loss Gastric Bypass Surgery Effective Up to 12 Years

Similar results from gastric bypass surgery were reported after six years and the benefits persisted for as long as 12 years.

Obese patients who undergo gastric bypass surgery are able to keep their weight down for as long as 12 years, a team of researchers reported in the New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers, led by Ted D. Adams of Intermountain Healthcare, analyzed the cases of 1,156 severely obese patients and compared the results of those who had Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery with those who did not. Those who did not have the surgery did not lose much weight. Those who did have surgery reported weight losses after two years of an average of 99 pounds. Similar results were reported after six years, and the benefits of gastric sleeve surgery persisted for as long as 12 years. That left the surgery patients on average with 77 fewer pounds, a 26.9 per cent weight loss gastric surgery, plus lower blood pressure and reduced problems with diabetes. “This study further confirms the long-term durability of gastric bypass surgery bariatric choice,” Adams told Reuters Health. Weight-loss experts who were not part of the study said the results should prompt insurance plans to cover the surgery. Jaime Ponce, medical director for bariatric surgery weight loss procedures at CHI Memorial Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn., told Reuters: “We must change the thinking about obesity and begin to remove the policy, social, medical, discriminatory, economic and perceptual barriers that deny people appropriate treatment and support before more people get sick or die.”

Weight Loss – Should You Do The Elimination Diet Plan?

The elimination diet is one gaining in popularity as more and more people jump on the bandwagon and lose weight because of it. Is it one you should be doing? Do you have an interest in this diet but are not quite sure if it is for you? Let us look at this concept further to determine if this is a diet you should be investing your time in. If you’re reading this, I’m guessing you have tried an elimination diet (or have considered going on one) and you’re questioning if they really work.

Who Should Try an Elimination Diet?

If you suspect you have food sensitivities or other adverse reactions to foods (which often manifest as digestive issues, skin disorders, joint pain, autoimmune problems, trouble losing weight, fatigue, infertility, and more), an elimination diet is a key part of the healing process. Elimination diets remain the gold standard in confirming food sensitivities (even when lab testing has been done) and figuring out your unique “dose tolerance” to individual foods. By removing problematic foods, at least for a period of time, and then reintroducing certain foods, you can identify your reactive (or trigger) foods and which foods your body can handle If you do decide to try an elimination diet, planning is key. “Plan a shopping list so that your kitchen is stocked with alternatives, ” says Batayneh. That will help ensure that you get all of the nutrients your body needs—but none of the items that are on your list of now-forbidden foods. After all, even the tiniest little slip up can skew your results.

Obesity, diabetes combating device safe for treatment

A non-surgical and reversible device for people with Type 2 diabetes and obesity.

A non-surgical and reversible device for people with Type 2 diabetes and obesity is safe, effective and should be rolled out across the National Health Service (NHS), researchers say. The device — Endobarrier — is a reversible treatment that provides people with an alternative to drastic gastric bypass surgery. It prevents food from coming into contact with the first part of the small intestine, but without painful invasive surgery. Endobarrier consists of a 60-cm-long tube-like liner or sleeve that coats the inside of the small intestine, allowing food to pass through but not to be absorbed, which can be removed after a year. The procedure aims to kick-start a change in lifestyle and help people achieve better health, improve diabetes control as well as promote weight loss, the researchers said.

What is an Endobarrier

The device, Endobarrier, is a reversible treatment that provides people with an alternative to drastic gastric bypass surgery. Now you can treat your Type 2 diabetes and obesity with a device based medical treatment which is highly safe and serves the purpose of a total cure says a study. The treatment prevents food from coming into contact with the first part of the small intestine through a surgery. Participants reported considerable improvements in well-being, energy, and the ability to exercise, with around 94 per cent saying that they would recommend the service to their friends and family. For the study, presented at 2017 European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) Annual Meeting in Portugal, the team investigated whether this new therapy could be translated into major clinical success by creating a small NHS Endobarrier service for people having difficulties managing their Type 2 diabetes and obesity.

Understanding how gastric bypass works: Finding drug targets for obesity and diabetes

Coming a step closer to understanding how gastric bypass works

“The therapeutic effects of gastric bypass give us hope that we can discover novel drugs for obesity and diabetes,” says Nima Saeidi, PhD, of the MGH-CEM, principal investigator on the project. “Our goal is to reverse engineer the weight loss and resolution of blood sugar control without having to perform such an invasive procedure. To achieve this, we must first be able to capture how metabolic organs such as the liver, muscle, adipose tissue and even the small intestine reprogram themselves post-surgery to trigger the weight loss and reversal of insulin resistance.” Gastric bypass is a mixed weight loss surgery, utilizing both a decrease in stomach size and a partial bypass of the small intestine to limit calorie intake. Gastric bypass is also commonly referred to as “roux-en-y” weight loss surgery and is one of the most successful weight loss surgeries for sustained, long-term weight loss. The challenge, of course, is losing the weight, and many obese patients cannot achieve this through simple diet, exercise or medication. After exhausting all of these options, many people consider weight-loss surgery. There are several types of weight-loss surgery, but gastric bypass surgery is the most common. Doctors perform an estimated 140, 000 gastric bypass surgeries in the United States every year [Source: American Society for Bariatric Surgery].
